Tool landscape

Lead scoring tools, and why the model matters more than the tool.

Every tool here will produce a score. Almost none of them will tell you whether it predicts anything.

Questions

Why do reps ignore lead scores?

Because a score with no visible reasoning cannot be acted on, and a few weeks of working the list teaches them the ranking does not predict who closes.

How do I validate a lead scoring model?

Export last year of closed won and closed lost, compare the score each carried at creation, and check whether the averages actually differ.

What is the difference between lead scoring and deal scoring?

Lead scoring ranks individual people on demographics and engagement. Deal scoring ranks open opportunities on what the buying group is doing.

Do you resell any of these?

No. Sapwood takes no vendor commissions and is not a partner of anyone named here.
