Fractional RevOps for Salesforce

Salesforce assumes an administrator exists. Most mid market teams do not have one.

The short answerSalesforce will happily let you build anything, including things you should not. Without an admin, configuration drifts within months: fields nobody owns, validation rules nobody can explain, automations firing in an order nobody designed. Fractional RevOps covers the judgment, not just the clicks.

Admin versus operator

An admin executes changes. An operator decides which changes are worth making and what the object model should look like. Under about 25 users you can often get by with fractional coverage of both. Above that you usually need a dedicated admin as well.

What tends to be broken

Opportunity stages without exit criteria, record types nobody remembers creating, reports built on fields that stopped being populated, and a forecast category nobody maintains.

Sandbox first, always

Anything structural should be built and tested in a sandbox with your sign off before it touches production. If a provider does not work that way, that is the answer to your question about them.

Questions

Do we need a dedicated Salesforce admin?

Above roughly 25 users, yes, or a fractional equivalent. Salesforce assumes an administrator exists.

Can a fractional operator work in our org safely?

Read-only first, sandbox for anything structural, and your sign off before production.

What is the first thing to audit?

The object model and stage exit criteria. Everything downstream is built on those.

Do you work in both Salesforce and HubSpot?

Both, plus Attio, alongside ZoomInfo, Outreach, Gong, RingLead, Chili Piper and Power BI.

Want to talk it through?

Leave an email and I will reply myself, usually the same day. No sequence, no newsletter, and no calendar link unless you ask for one.

One reply from a person. Nothing else.

Got it. You will hear from hello@sapwood.io.
